Being the celebrity that he is, I’m sure most everyone has heard the story of Jackson’s grand arrival into the world but I’ll share for those who haven’t.
I went to work. We had cross country practice after school. I haven’t been running in probably about 2 ½ months so I was just telling the kids what they were running. Ashlynn has been coming to practice with me and we have been walking around looking for golf balls while the kids were running. After that, we went back to my room. I had made us crock pot dinner since Austin had football practice. We went to his practice. Anyways, we left the house at ten till six that morning and got home right at nine. Thursday night is Rock Band night so when we got home, Dustin helped the kids to bed so he could go play! I was telling Austin a bedtime story and I started feeling a little more crampy than I had been the last few days. Ashlynn fell asleep waiting on me to tuck her in. I started having real contractions right at 10:00 after eating mint Oreos and milk. (I wonder if that had anything to do with it??) They weren’t that bad so I took a bath and then texted/called Dustin. I went ahead and took a shower to wash my hair and gathered up anything that I didn’t already have in the Jeep. When Dustin got home, he got the kids dressed and in the car. When we left I thought we had enough time to get to the hospital. I remember Dustin asking me if he needed to fly or just drive fast. Well, we got pulled over almost half way there and by then I wasn’t so sure I would make it to the hospital. We ended up with a police escort to the hospital. When we pulled into the hospital parking lot, I didn’t think I could even make it out of the jeep. My contractions had went from five minutes apart to less than a minute apart from the house to here! The police officer, Dustin, and the hospital security guard helped me into the chair. I’m not sure where the officer went but they sent Dustin to park the car and take the other two kids to the waiting room. (Austin kept telling Ashlynn all the way to the hospital to just not talk to mom because she was having a baby. I think Ashlynn is still a little traumatized but she is doing better. She was bawling by the time we got to the hospital because last thing she knew she was in her bed!) Anyways, the security guard met several nurses as we were coming in and I just kept telling them to hurry up that he was about to be born. They just kept telling me I would make it to a room and a bed. The nurses soon realized that wasn’t going to happen about the time we were in the elevator. The security guard was pretty shaken and kept asking if he needed to go. The main nurse turned and told him to just hold the chair still. I won’t give all the wonderful birthing details, but Jackson was born in the elevator with three nurses and a security guard in a wheel chair. It was a wonderful finale for a last child!!! All is doing well now and we are home. He slept a good solid 2-3 hours at a time last night. He is so perfect! I do have to say that baby boy diaper changing is a bit more dramatic than little girls. (The less time you spend changing, the better chances of not getting a pee shower!)
